2018 Broadband Awards Announcement

2018 Broadband Awards Announcement
Wednesday, 8 August 2018

Broadband Compare, New Zealand’s leading broadband comparison website, together with TUANZ, the independent membership group representing users of digital connectivity has announced the date of the 2018 Broadband Compare TUANZ Awards - http://www.broadbandawards.co.nz/ - and is inviting entries from the New Zealand Broadband community.

Building on the success of the inaugural event in 2017 and the significant history of previous TUANZ awards, the 2018 awards will offer New Zealand broadband providers and associated businesses throughout the country an opportunity to be recognised as leading the way in the ever-changing broadband and connectivity sector.

There will be 10 awards up for grabs including a number of new and revised categories following feedback from the industry and public after last years awards.  The full list of categories are as follows:

Broadband Compare People's Choice Award 2018

TUANZ NZ Broadband Provider of the Year

NZ Wholesaler of the Year

Best Fibre Broadband Provider

Best Bundled Plan

Best Customer Support

Best Service Provider under 10,000 customers

Best Rural Service Provider

Best Broadband Innovation

Best Specialist Broadband Provider

All entrants are automatically entered for the Broadband Compare People’s Choice Award which will include a public vote, whilst the TUANZ Broadband Compare Provider of the Year Award will go to a winner chosen from the other categories and entrants.

Commenting on the return of the awards, founder and CEO of Broadband Compare, Gavin Male, said: “The New Zealand broadband sector continues to evolve and continually improving connectivity options are giving Kiwis far more choice and possibilities than ever before.  With this increase in choices, there can be more confusion over what is the best broadband plan and provider for a particular individual or family’s needs.  Broadband Compare has already helped over 250,000 Kiwis with their broadband decisions in 2018 and the Broadband Compare TUANZ Awards will provide another opportunity to help them make an even more informed choice when considering a new broadband connection.”  Male continues; “Having TUANZ join the awards as a name partner is further validation of the importance and esteem that the awards have quickly garnered.”

Craig Young, CEO TUANZ said:

“TUANZ is excited to be partnering with Broadband Compare to bring together this year’s Broadband Awards.  It's very pleasing to be involved in recognising achievements in the New Zealand broadband sector and the Broadband Compare TUANZ awards fit very well with our goal of continuing to advocate for ubiquitous high-quality connectivity across New Zealand and the need to continue to recognise improvements and innovation in this area.”

Gavin added, “We saw entrants from more than 25 different enterprises in 2017 and I would highly recommend any company considering entering the awards to take a shot. With more than 30,000 Kiwis comparing broadband every month through the Broadband Compare website a winning entry could pay back big time.”

Entries are open now and winners will be announced on the evening of November 8, 2018 at a gala awards night held at the Orange Coronation Ballroom in Auckland.

Closing date for entries is September 17, 2018, with the finalists expected to be announced in early October.
