Countdown – less than 90,000 connections left to stream the Rugby World Cup

Less than 90,000 connections left to stream the rugby world vcup

Chorus has announced that there are fewer than 90,000 connections left before the Rugby World Cup 2019

Chorus is encouraging Kiwis to get their fibre order in now to ensure they’re on the best possible broadband connections ahead of the Rugby World Cup.

Chorus' Chief Customer Officer, Ed Hyde said, "with the majority of matches for this year's Rugby World Cup only available online, we're eager to see as many Kiwi families as possible connected to the best possible broadband.

“We know demand is going to be high for fibre installations in the lead up to the tournament and we want to make sure New Zealand’s most ardent supporters don't miss out.”

Only 7 World Cup games are scheduled to screen free-to-air on TVNZ. So, if you want to enjoy watching every World Cup game online you will need the fastest and most-reliable broadband available.

Fibre broadband has the capacity to handle online video traffic with ease. It also has no problems handling demand from multiple devices without losing quality or buffering – essential in homes where watching the game isn’t the only online priority.

Chorus have said that they expect a significant spike in data use whether people watch the games online – especially the matches that won’t be broadcast free-to-air. In preparation for the tournament, Chorus are adding capacity to the network to keep it congestion free.

Don’t miss out – make sure your broadband is World Cup ready

  1. Check to see if fibre is available at your home – simply enter your address into our Broadband Checker to compare plans available at your address.
  2. Easily compare fibre plans available at your address – make sure to choose a plan with 100Mbps or more download speed and unlimited data. So there’s no need to worry about capacity or data caps
  3. Choose the plan that best suits you. If you aren’t sure which option is best, or you prefer to talk to someone in person give us a call at 0508 2COMPARE (0508 226672)
  4. Make sure that you understand the terms of your current broadband contract before you switch – so you can plan to switch if you need to wait for your current contract to finish. Check our simple guide on how to switch broadband.
  5. Try these steps to optimize your home broadband speed to ensure your broadband is performing well. Connect your TV to your router with an Ethernet cable.
